Do you remember when I told you about the heritage chicken breed program at the University of Alberta? Well, I decided that I really want to be a part of heritage breed preservation in my own coops.
I have purchased an egg incubator and made contact with the University of Saskatchewan, where some heritage breeds are being maintained. I am excited to report that I have 64 eggs enroute to me in the coming weeks, and I can’t wait to make you a part of the journey of hatching and raising them! My contact, Dr. Karen Schwean-Lardner at the University of Saskatchewan has provided me with some great photos of the breed I’m looking forward to. I will keep you posted when the eggs arrive!
