I took a walk beside our cedar rail fence row and uncovered a little treasure. As cold as it was, this spring beauty, a Crocus, peered out of the soil, coming to life. These little lilac blue perennials with goblet shape flowers do their best to reach up and out of the frost-ridden soil. Apparently, these forest floor beauties only flower every three years. The foliage is almost grass-like with a central white stipe as its trademark, distinguishing it from other forest types.
One cannot describe the feeling you get when such a little wonder brightens up a rather dull day. Get out and explore life’s wonders! Don’t forget to look around you and see the beauty that can be found in your own backyard.
